Three drilled shafts that the contractor installed failed testing because of anomalies discovered in the concrete. The GC had a strict schedule and could not lose time for redesign or replacement of the failed drilled shafts.
AKIS was hired the drilled shaft anomaly removal. AKIS utilized its high-pressure pumps to hydrodemo out the bad concrete at the elevation required. Once the anomaly was removed, the GC was able to fill the void with grout and the three failed drilled shafts were approved for use.
